Welcome to Garfield Middle School

The end of the school year has arrived, and I would like to wish our students, parents, and school community a restful summer. The summer goes by very quickly, and before you know it, we will be back at school, once again, for another exciting school year. Students, faculty, and staff work hard during the school year and, therefore, I see the summer months as a time for rejuvenation and goal setting. We all need time to relax and enjoy time with family and friends.

This has been a phenomenal school year. We have accomplished so much together, from International Food Festival, decorating GMS for Halloween, GMS first Pep rally, to the Harlem Wizard basketball game, and the fabulous class trips to the Poconos and Boston, and much, much, more. Students took an active role in every activity and left an indelible mark not just on me but our school as well. Their legacies will live on forever at GMS.

The new school year will be both challenging and rewarding. With new 6th graders coming in and our 8th graders leaving us; we have decided to switch floors. The 6th grade will now be on the first floor, the 8th grade will be on the 3rdfloor, and the 7th grade will remain on the 2nd floor. We, here at GMS, are always looking to challenge ourselves each year and exceed those challenges as well.  There is little doubt that we will meet these new challenges with renewed commitment, enthusiasm and vigor.

In closing, I take this opportunity to congratulate all students of from Garfield Middle School I wish you all a very happy, healthy, safe and enjoyable summer. Please be sure to take time as a family together to enjoy your summer fun. I look forward to seeing you all in September. Those families who are not returning to our school, we would like to wish you all success as you make your journey on to new places.
