To all 8th grade parents,

Garfield School District Policy is that all 8th-grade students must meet all of their academic requirements to participate in the June graduation ceremony. Therefore, if your son or daughter needs to attend credit recovery at the end of June or summer school due to academic failure, unfortunately, they will not be able to participate in the June graduation ceremony. Upon completing their credit recovery and/or summer school, your child will be promoted to 9th grade. If there are any questions or concerns about your child’s grades, please don’t hesitate to call or email Mr. Cipollone (ccippolone@gboe.org), 8th-grade guidance counselor, for more information.

6th and 7th-grade parents,

  • Garfield School District Policy is that all students must meet all of their academic requirements to be promoted to the next grade.

  • GMS is currently offering a Credit Recovery program for students failing in Science and Social Studies.

  • GMS is offering summer school for students who have failed math or language.

  • However, some students may have to complete both.

  • Please contact your respective guidance counselors regarding registration for summer school, as well as the current status on their course recovery progress, if enrolled.
